Coastal Wedding at the Newport Harbor Island Resort

Michelle and Jace got married in the middle of April on a windy but sunny spring day! Together with Wild Lily Event Planning they planned a stunning celebration at Newport Harbor Island Resort. With sweeping ocean views, stunning blue, cream, and white linens and florals and one incredibly unique seating chart, this celebration was the perfect mix of romance and coastal sophistication.
My favorite part of what I do is when I get to create such unique pieces. I was thrilled to create a one-of-a-kind seating chart display featuring individual sailboats, each hand-lettered with table assignments. It was the ultimate nod to Newport’s sailing culture and gave guests a memorable first impression as they arrived at the reception.
A Sailboat Seating Chart That Stole the Show
For this wedding, the couple wanted to incorporate nautical elements without going too theme-heavy. Enter: the custom sailboat seating chart.
Each table was assigned its own small wooden sailboat, and we hand-lettered the guest names directly onto the sails in a specifically chosen ‘font’. The display was set on a table as the guests entered into the main room surrounded by bud vases of florals and candle votives.
It was not only functional but also became a conversation piece and focal point of the reception entrance. Some guests even chose to take their sailboat home!
